Meet the Doctors

Dr. Richard Garner
Growing up on my family’s horse ranch, I was able to realize my interest in animals at a young age. My love for animals grew as I became old enough to help raise and train our registered quarter horses, as well as show them from time to time.
I attended Texas A&M at College Station, TX from 1971-1972, then was accepted in to A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in fall of 1972. During vet school I married my wonderful wife Vicki. After graduating in 1976, I took my first associates position at a clinic in Desoto, TX which included small animals and horses. In June of 1978, my family and I moved to Wylie, TX to start my own mobile vet practice. As the practice grew and opportunities arose, new facilities were found and I opened a clinic in Wylie, TX which included ampoule facilities to accommodate the growing business. In 1987, my wife & I decided to sell the business to move further north which landed my family in between Blue Ridge, TX & Anna, TX, which gave us the opportunity to raise our children in the country as I had myself. Soon after the move, Vicki & I decided to open a small practice next to our home in 1989 that grew over the next 15 years. In 2004, we began construction of our new modern hospital at our present location.
I have 3 sons, Jeff, Jason and Justin which all have helped in the family business throughout the years. While I’m not working I enjoy fishing, working on antique cars and spending time with my family and 4 grandchildren.

Dr. Jeff Garner
I am the son of Dr. Rick and Vicki Garner, I joined the practice in July 2007. In 1997 I married my wife Annette and moved to Oklahoma City. There, I attended Oklahoma State University. In 2003 I was accepted to Oklahoma State University of Veterinary Medicine, I earned my D.V.M. in 2007.
I have been married to my wife for 11 years and we have 3 beautiful children, Brennan, Carson, and Kaitlyn. We own two dogs, Nellie, an English Mastiff and Ringo a Boxer, I also have a small herd of cattle which I enjoy with my children. We currently reside in Anna, TX, close to TCVH.

Dr. Russell Simmons
At the age 8, I began showing Polled Hereford cattle and continued through my senior year of high school. My family and I also raised and trained horses on our family farm near Wichita Falls, Texas. My passion for animals began at an early age and has continued throughout my life.
I graduated from Petrolia High School in 1999 and began my undergraduate studies at Oklahoma State University that same year. In 2003, I was accepted into the OSU veterinary program and graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in May of 2007 from the OSU College of Veterinary Medicine.
Veterinary medicine has allowed me to combine my interest in medicine with my passion for animals. My primary interest is in equine medicine and surgery, but I enjoy the challenges and rewards of a mixed animal practice.
While in Veterinary school I married my beautiful wife, Clair, whom I have known most of my life. In October of 2007 we were blessed with a little baby boy, Austin. Austin is entertained by our Boxer, Zena, our blue heeler, Levi and our horse, Annie.
